50th Celebration
The club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a big bash at The Oval on Friday, June 12, 2026.
Over 90 Strollers past and present caroused the night away in the Long Room. Thanks go to Jim Hodgson and Jo Perrin, whose masterly organisation ensured everything ran smoothly. Chairman Kimball Bailey presided; Evan Samuel introduced England and Surrey cricketer Mark Butcher, who gave an enthralling insight into the life of a Test player; Mike Pittams led a round of Heads and Tails; Simon Brodbeck mused on the 848 people who have passed through the Strollers scorebook since 1976.
Thanks to your generosity in the raffle we were able to donate £1,460
to the A Chance To Shine charity. Thanks to a doubling up initiative, we have contributed
£2,920 in total. They are over the moon!
The following awards were made to mark the 2025 season: Player of the Year: Blair Travis; Chairman's award: Simon Brodbeck. Players’ player: Steve Rogers; Batsman of the Year: Glen Oliver; Bowler of the year: Alastair Macaulay; Dennis Cave Award for the bowling performance of the Year: Jim Hodgson.
