Annual Dinner 2021

The club’s annual dinner was held via Zoom on Friday, April 16.

The event was a great success thanks to the meticulous organisation of Rob Wall and the presiding presence of chairman Kimball Bailey.

Other thanks must go to:

Guest speaker Mike Pittams, who reprised his 2020 masterpiece, but this time from his New York penthouse.  His surreal musings covered the deceleration of the salt n' pepper princess, that old chestnut of Glen Oliver’s turning circle (likened to the stranded Ever Given container ship in the Suez Canal), and the endless search to find Hollywood's finest, Jono Addis, hidden in the background of the latest movies.

Quizmaster Glen Oliver, who teased his audience with some questions on Strollers history and the laws of the game. The Daly boys came out winners with Maggie Patston close behind.

The club set up a JustGiving page for the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Assocation. Up to press the wonderful total of £925 has been donated by generous Strollers in memory of Peter Patston.

The following awards were made and trophies presented to:

Player of the Year: Glen Oliver

Chairman's award: Rob Wall

Players' player: Aidan Selby

Batsman of the year: Blair Travis

The Peter Patston Award for the b
owler of the year: Glen Oliver

Fielder of the year: Rob Wall

Most appearances: Glen Oliver

Many thanks to everyone - from the United States, New Zealand and the UK - who made the effort to join the celebrations and make it such an enjoyable evening.
